Don’t Become A Modern Samson

Judges 16:4-5 (NKJV) Afterward it happened that he loved a woman in the Valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah. And the lords of the Philistines came up to her and said to her, “Entice him, and find out where his great strength lies, and by what means we may overpower him, that we may bind him to afflict him; and every one of us will give you eleven hundred pieces of silver.”
Judged 16:15-17 (NKJV) Then she said to him, “How can you say, ‘I love you,’ when your heart is not with me? You have mocked me these three times, and have not told me where your great strength lies.16 And it came to pass, when she pestered him daily with her words and pressed him, so that his soul was vexed to death, that he told her all his heart, and said to her, “No razor has ever come upon my head, for I have been a Nazirite to God from my mother’s womb. If I am shaven, then my strength will leave me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.”
From the above context of Scripture, we read how Samson sold out the secret of his strength (hair) which was an external strength. He was the strongest man during his era and his strength was a gift from God to accomplish a specific assignment. He knew he was a Nazirite, he knew what he was supposed to do and not do but his lack of inner strength being formed in him, he was vulnerable to deception, anger and lack of self-control.
No matter how externally strong Samson was, he was a weak man who was prone to all manner of proclivities which exposed him to the hands of his enemies. His enemies didn’t know his strength was in his hair! They used his inner weakness (the love of a strange woman) that exposed his little secret. If Samson was strong internally in form of character, serious in his walk with God and faith in God who gifted him with a supernatural ability, I don’t think Delilah would have gotten an opportunity, to lure him into letting the cat out of the basket.
Where am going with all this, don’t be a modern Samson where your strength is external. When you base your strength on what you have externally like your gifts ,your job, your beauty, your business, your government, your wealth, your relationships, your titles or whatever it is that makes you feel secure, Delilah is coming and if she knows you don’t have inner strength ,your fall from grace to grass, will only be a blink of an eye.The enemy of your destiny is not terrified by your gift or your assignment,he is after what is within you.

Don’t become a modern Samson where your strength is external.

Let your strength be in God who strengthens you from within. Everything can crumble right in front of your eyes but if your strength is grounded in God! Delilah got no influence to take what God has already deposited within you which is eternal. Psalm 16:8-9(AMP) I have set the Lord continually before me; Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore, my heart is glad and my glory (my innermost self) rejoices, my body too will dwell (confidently) in safety.Delilah can’t take away your faith, she can’t take away your Peace, she can’t take away your anointing, she can’t take away your joy, she can’t take away your potential and she can’t take away your Destiny.I have penned down Sweet Things in Dead things and Thinking Otherwise which are good reads to connect with this particular post.
Isaiah 26:3-4(AMP)
“You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast (that is, committed and focused on You in both (inclination and character),Because he trusts and takes refuge in You (with hope and confident expectation).“Trust (confidently) in the Lord forever (He is your fortress, your shield, your banner),For the Lord God is an everlasting Rock (the Rock of Ages).
