2 Chronicles 15:1-7 (NIV)
The Spirit of God came on Azariah son of Oded. 2 He went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you. 3 For a long time Israel was without the true God, without a priest to teach and without the law. 4 But in their distress, they turned to the Lord, the God of Israel, and sought him, and he was found by them. 5 In those days it was not safe to travel about, for all the inhabitants of the lands were in great turmoil. 6 One nation was being crushed by another and one city by another, because God was troubling them with every kind of distress. 7 But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.”
From the above context of Scripture, we read how Azariah gives Asa such a timely word from God, during a season of uncertainty which was being experienced by Nations all round. From the previous chapter, we learn that Asa was a King who did what was right in the eyes of God and not only he did do what was right in the eyes of God but he also commanded Judah to seek God. He was a phenomenal Leader who never drew people to himself but to God
During Asa’s reign, the children of Israel turned to God and out of His merciful nature, He made sure He gave Asa a word that would help him steer his people during a season of Judgment that other Nations were experiencing. It’s a trying season for Nations around the world, including my mother Land Kenya. However,do you know most of the calamities happenings in our days are spiritually instigated? Spiritual problems require spiritual solutions. A call to pray for the nation is real and urgent. God is sovereign and He knows how to draw mankind back to Himself. He can allow anything including the locust’s invasion in Kenya to the corona pandemic, to awaken the church for revival. God is tired of being misrepresented that He will use anything to show Himself.
Let us desperately cry out to God that He may remember mercy. Those who think that praying for the nation is a waste of time are ignorant of the divine principles, and it even beats logic. Ask yourself these questions: if the nation does not have peace, where will you get your own peace from? We must have a bigger picture that our blessing will come from our cities and nation. It is unfortunate that we openly see and even entertain things that destroy our economy, and yet we blindly continue crying to God to prosper us.
It is through prayer, dedication, commitment and doing this with the right motive and knowledge in the Word and Heart of God. This is God’s will for our lives, to pray for our Nations and build a hedge to ensure peace, prosperity, stability and an awakening for Revival. I am fully persuaded God’s time for Revival is the very darkest hour, when everything seems hopeless. Looking at break outs of great Revival’s in past generations, It is always the Lords way to use even the very worst scenarios to manifest His glory. God is seeking out for a man to use and how I pray that we may be found ready for this great move. Ezekiel 22:30 (NKJV) So, I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.
