Good does not mean God is in it.

I believe most of us have experienced situations in life which were not soo pleasant not because we had ill intentions in making some choices in life but our expedition was completely wrong. I have been through this path before and I can attest to you, that lack of inquiring from God and jumping into making a decision which never went well has taught me that in life you might have good intentions in doing something which are not in line with the will of God. I don’t regret the destiny path I have chosen to take but ill be honest with you, I have encountered potholes along the way that taught me a viable lesson ” you don’t get good to get God but you get God to get good”.
Let’s be honest with ourselves and admit that at times life can present us with different types of pressure that can trigger us into making wrong decisions out of emotions. External pressure or internal pressure can package itself in different ways, the pressure to provide for your family, the pressure to make it in life, the pressure to succeed, the pressure to settle down, the pressure to achieve your set goals, the pressure to achieve your dreams and the list and go and on.
As I pen down this post, I know someone is reading this article, who is at a juncture of asking yourself, how you got yourself into the murky waters you are currently trying to get yourself out from yet you had the right intentions while making that choice.
We all need to realize that having the right intentions in making a decision, good does not necessarily mean that God is into it. Let’s mirror at God’s truth in 1 Chronicles 13:1-4 (NKJV)Then David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, and with every leader. And David said to all the assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you, and if it is of the Lord our God, let us send out to our brethren everywhere who are left in all the land of Israel, and with them to the priests and Levites who are in their cities and their common-lands, that they may gather together to us; and let us bring the ark of our God back to us, for we have not inquired at it since the days of Saul. “Then all the assembly said that they would do so, for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.
King David had the best intentions at heart in bringing the Ark of the covenant to Jerusalem. He inquired counsel from his captains, his leaders, the assembly of Israel and everything seemed perfect in his expedition to bring back the ark of the covenant from Kirjath Jearim to Jerusalem. However, one thing he failed to do is seek the last and final approval which was supposed to be from God.It is wisdom to seek counsel as it is written in Proverbs 19:20-21(AMPC) ,Hear counsel, receive instruction, and accept correction, that you may be wise in the time to come. Many plans are in a man’s mind, but it is the Lord’s purpose for him that will stand. But after you have sought counsel, be intentional to inquire and seek the purpose of God in regard to that decision you want to make. The purpose of God will always be the rubber stamp that will guide you into making the next move.
So, King David failed to ask God the proper order on how to bring back the Ark of the covenant and it costed him dearly. 1 Samuel 13:9-13 (NKJV) And when they came to Chidon’s threshing floor, Uzza put out his hand to hold the ark, for the oxen stumbled. Then the anger of the Lord was aroused against Uzza, and He struck him because he put his hand to the ark; and he died there before God. And David became angry because of the Lord’s outbreak against Uzza; therefore that place is called Perez Uzza to this day.David was afraid of God that day, saying, “How can I bring the ark of God to me?”So David would not move the ark with him into the City of David, but took it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.
King David’s expedition was halted after the death of Uzza, when he realized that God was not into what he was doing. You might be struggling in an abusive marriage yet you had the best intentions while committing yourself to your spouse, you might be struggling in huge debts yet you had the best intentions in acquiring loans to expand your business but things didn’t work out the way you expected or you might be struggling with navigating your gift and you had the best intentions at heart while resigning from your job. Things might not have turned out the way you anticipated but here is the good news my beloved, King David never gave up on His expedition to bring back the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem because his intentions were good from the beginning but on his next expedition, he consulted God.
1 Chronicles 15:11-15 (NKJV)And David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites: for Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab. He said to them, “You are the heads of the fathers’ houses of the Levites; sanctify yourselves, you and your brethren, that you may bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel to the place I have prepared for it. For because you did not do it the first time, the Lord our God broke out against us, because we did not consult Him about the proper order.”So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel. And the children of the Levites bore the ark of God on their shoulders, by its poles, as Moses had commanded according to the word of the Lord.
God always has a way of perfecting His will in our lives, when we acknowledge that He got the final say in every situation, even in a mess we have entangled ourselves in out of good intentions but with the wrong expeditions. All you got to do now amid your mess is include God in your intentions. John 16:24(NKJV) Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. Ask God what you need to do to make your marriage work, ask God to give you ideas on how to get out of that debt, ask God to show you how to navigate in your assignment or ask God to restore what you lost from a place of ignorance. Whatever it is you settled for at the expense of good intentions but God was out of the equation!! There is still another chance of doing it right today.
I have penned down Give God Control ,Test Of Patience and Pass The Test which are good reads to connect with this particular post.
