Character Assassination!!!

2 Samuel 16:1-4
When David was a little past the top of the mountain, there was Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth, who met him with a couple of saddled donkeys, and on them two hundred loaves of bread, one hundred clusters of raisins, one hundred summer fruits, and a skin of wine. And the king said to Ziba, “What do you mean to do with these?”
So Ziba said, “The donkeys are for the king’s household to ride on, the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat, and the wine for those who are faint in the wilderness to drink. Then the king said, “And where is your master’s son?”And Ziba said to the king, “Indeed he is staying in Jerusalem, for he said, ‘Today the house of Israel will restore the kingdom of my father to me.’ ”So the king said to Ziba, “Here, all that belongs to Mephibosheth is yours.”And Ziba said, “I humbly bow before you, that I may find favor in your sight, my lord, O king!”
The above context of scripture puzzled me and it dawned in my heart, it was not written to fill up the Bible, there was a purpose behind it.
Mephibosheth was a son of Jonathan the son of Saul , who was the only one left after his father’s house hold From previous scriptures, we get to learn Mephibosheth was lame and King David in 2 Samuel 9:7 So David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.
2 Samuel 9:9-11 And the king called to Ziba, Saul’s servant, and said to him, “I have given to your master’s son all that belonged to Saul and to all his house. You therefore, and your sons and your servants, shall work the land for him, and you shall bring in the harvest, that your master’s son may have food to eat. But Mephibosheth your master’s son shall eat bread at my table always.” Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants. Then Ziba said to the king, “According to all that my lord the king has commanded his servant, so will your servant do.”
King David, restored all the land of King Saul to Mephibosheth and not only did he restore the land but he also honored him by giving him access to eat at his table and he commanded Ziba, Saul’s servant , to work on that land and bring forth all the harvest to Mephibosheth.
However, we later on learn in 2 Samuel 16:1-4, which is the basis of my blog post today, Ziba never had good intentions towards his master Mephibosheth, despite of winning King David’s trust, in taking care of Mephibosheth. who was lame. Ziba had ulterior motives as we will learn in 2 Samuel 19:25-26When he came from Jerusalem to meet the king, the king asked him, “Why didn’t you go with me, Mephibosheth?”He said, “My lord the king, since I your servant am lame, I said, ‘I will have my donkey saddled and will ride on it, so I can go with the king.’ But Ziba my servant betrayed me. And he has slandered your servant to my lord the king. My lord the king is like an angel of God; so do whatever you wish.
Ziba assassinated his master Mephibosheth character, to gain what had been entrusted to him unlawfully This was an act of high magnitude betrayal, considering Mephibosheth was disabled, who trusted Ziba as a loyal servant. The false information that Ziba gave King David in regards to his master Mephibosheth, resulted to King David discrediting Mephibosheth loyalty.
Let’s be real and no sugar coating, there are people who will not like you because someone assassinated your character, when they described who used to be or the view they have of you or maybe, it’s you am speaking to that you have already assassinated someone’s character.
But my Bible tells me, in spite of people who might try to assassinate our character to our destiny helpers, there are also people who will speak well of us to our destiny helpers Genesis 41:9-14Then the chief cupbearer said to Pharaoh, “Today I am reminded of my shortcomings. Pharaoh was once angry with his servants, and he imprisoned me and the chief baker in the house of the captain of the guard. Each of us had a dream the same night, and each dream had a meaning of its own.
Now a young Hebrew was there with us, a servant of the captain of the guard. We told him our dreams, and he interpreted them for us, giving each man the interpretation of his dream. And things turned out exactly as he interpreted them to us: I was restored to my position, and the other man was impaled.” So Pharaoh sent for Joseph, and he was quickly brought from the dungeon. When he had shaved and changed his clothes, he came before Pharaoh.
While Joseph was in prison, there was someone who was speaking well of him to his destiny helper. The cup bearer, was a man whose motives were sincere, as he spoke of his encounter with Joseph, while he was in prison. His genuine motive, ushered Joseph who had a solution to his destiny helper.
God created you as a solution giver in your nation, in this generation, in your family and in your community but it’s my prayer, you will be sensitive enough, to discern right associations in life and be willing to discern wrong associations and obedient to let go of anyone, who masquerades as a loyal friend yet he has ulterior motives like Ziba.
I decree and declare, enemies of your destiny will  not go ahead of you to your destiny helpers and nothing will hinder your right associations, from speaking well of you towards your destiny helpers in the name of Jesus.

Parting Shot:- It’s immature and foolish to dislike someone, on the account of what someone else told you about them. Stop relying on hearsay information, as your bench mark on how you view or relate with people. Get to know someone and you will be utterly be surprised, they are not the way some people painted them to be like. Value people and you will eventually see the best in them.
