How do you see yourself?

When a company is advertising its product through a commercial bill board or on the media plat forms, you will notice they put their best foot forward, to show case how their product is good, convenient or affordable to any consumer. They hire beautiful models, to show case their products, they use the best lighting and the most captivating background to capture consumers attention.

So, why do they go such extra miles which are expensive, to market their products??Some will say the people behind the product, want to make killer sales, others will say they are in competion with other companies but the most important reason why they go such extra miles is ,they believe in their product.

Any marketing manager spearheading a certain promo, they will always tell you how their product is the best in the market. If they are marketing a particular brand of soft drinks, they will always tell you their soft drinks are the best, but does that mean there is only one particular brand of soft drink in the market??NO. The reason behind marketing their brand is, they believe in their brand and they desire, all consumers to use their products.

Using the above simple illustration, how do you brand yourself as an individual??Who do you say you are? How do you talk about yourself while communicating with people??How do you see yourself??In the book of Numbers 13:33 There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.

Despite of God delivering the children of Israel out of captivity, they still had a very low opinion of who they really were. They saw themselves as grasshoppers instead of warriors and their confessions, gave the enemy lee way to oppress them

Let’s look at Exodus 1; 8-10 Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph. And he said to his people, “Look, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we; come, let us deal shrewdly with them, lest they multiply, and it happen, in the event of war, that they also join our enemies and fight against us, and so go up out of the land.” the Egyptians knew something profound about the children of Israel, which the children of Israel  were ignorant about. Out of their ignorance, the Egyptians held the children of Israel captive, since they did not know how mighty they were.

Whenever we fail to see ourselves properly, we give our enemies the leeway to oppress us, malign us, mock us and when it gets worse, they will hold us captive by what they know about us which we are not aware of.

Joshua 2:8-11 Now before they lay down, she came up to them on the roof, and said to the men: “I know that the Lord has given you the land, that the terror of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land are fainthearted because of you. For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were on the other side of the Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom you utterly destroyed. And as soon as we heard these things, our hearts melted; neither did there remain any more courage in anyone because of you, for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath.

It’s very impressive to note that the enemies of the children of Israel, were terrified about them because they heard all the mighty works God had done for them. However, the miracles that terrified the enemies of the Children of Israel, are the same miracles the children of Israel forgot and turned their backs on God through unbelief ,complaining and worshiping idols. Judges 8:34Thus the children of Israel did not remember the Lord their God, who had delivered them from the hands of all their enemies on every side;

How many times do we short change our selves, by speaking what is contrary to God’s word, over own lives??How many times do we forget what God has done for us and embrace an ungrateful heart??How many times do we sell our self-short to our enemies, even through our own social media networks??

Please hear me out, most of the times your enemies will never know how to fight you strategically, unless you give them a hint by how you think about yourself. The Egyptians only took the children of Israel captive due to the fact; they never saw themselves as mighty people who were chosen by God.

How you ultimately see yourself, will influence how other people will treat you. When there is a great promo in regards to certain product, as consumers we are made to believe that product is good and we need to buy it right!!The same applies to our own lives, if you believe in yourself, people will believe in you, if you believe in your dream trust me on this, people will start believing in your dream.

You can’t keep on complaining how life is tough and expect people to believe in your dream, you can’t be a person who keeps on maligning and gossiping other people and expect people to respect you in return. Building a brand that will last,  takes sacrifice, character, faith, hope and discipline.

What you say about yourself is more powerful than what anyone else says about you.

The descendants of Anak did not call the children of Israel Grasshoppers!! it was the children of Israel who saw themselves as grasshoppers, which was a mindset. From today, I challenge you to speak how valuable you are, how successful you are, how blessed you are and how beautiful you are, because you are.
