Representing Christ.

.

Recently I was listening to a radio talk show and they were actually debating, if people should separate their profession from their faith. It was such an interesting discussion, where people had to call in and give their views, which were as per their convictions. Some said as Christians, we should separate our profession from our faith, while others said, we should not separate our profession from our faith.
According to my perspective, as a lady who loves Jesus and hungry to SHINE His light to the world through me, I believe as Christians, we should NOT SEPARATE our profession from our faith. They need to go hand in hand. What I mean is, once you accept Christ, your main mandate is to grow in Him and win souls to His kingdom, through your lifestyle outside the four walls of the church.
A lot of non-believers are always watching us Christians and when there is no distinction between us and the world, they see no need of having Christ who dwells in us. They will give all manner of excuses, because they can’t really differentiate their life without Christ and your life which you claim you have Christ, yet you are living the way they live. In 1 John 2:10 Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling. There has to be a demarcation between light and darkness PERIOD!!!
Outside the four walls of the church, my team mates whom we serve together in church as ushers, at times we get to serve in co-operate functions but as we serve, we never separate our profession from our faith. What I mean is, when we serve outside the four walls of the church, we simply don’t engage in things the people of the world do. We are simply ambassadors of Christ, who are not ashamed to pray before the event, we are nice to people, we don’t drink liquor; we dress decent but elegantly and not trashy. If we do the opposite of this, someone from these events can decide to attend our home church and they will be very shocked to see us serving as ushers, yet in one of the events, we just did what the worldly people do. If that person, was searching for Christ, trust me, our actions would be a stumbling block to him/her, to receive Christ. When we represent Christ well outside the 4 walls of the church, no matter where we are, we will always be drawing people closer to Christ and win more souls to Him.
From the above illustration, I simply want to bring this point home, as Christians we should NOT SEPARATE our faith from our profession. We are the light of the world and if we don’t get our feet to people far and beyond, who hardly attend church, they will never know Christ. With all Humility and my reverence to who God is and his sovereignty, don’t get me wrong on this, you can’t go to strip clubs ,raving the whole weekend and still tell non-believers you are representing Christ, yet you are doing what they are doing.
For you to grow in Christ, you have to hate what God hates and love what He loves. When your profession is not in line with your faith, you really need to ask God, what He requires you to do, in order to represent Him to the lost world. The change you want to see must first begin with you, so that the world can be changed. Some people may never feel like attending church or listening to a Christian sermon but you might be the only ambassador, that will make them see Jesus in you. Let your prayer be, if they are looking for Jesus, let them  find Him  in you. You may be the only mouth piece of encouragement or hope, make it your priority to Introduce Jesus to them, by NOT SEPARATING  your profession from your  faith.
Take Note :
Not every job is for you. God’s word is very clear when Paul wrote in Galatians 6:1. Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. Anyone can fall into temptation because we are from a sinful nature, you are not super human, stay away from places or people who can easily influence you to compromise your faith.
Conclusion:

Don’t be embarrassed to be an ambassador of Christ, let your profession and faith go hand and hand and shine the light of Christ to the lost world. You never know, how many people might be attracted to Christ through your life style , which honors God even though you are imperfect living in an imperfect world.

Mirror on God’s word on why you should represent Him well:-

Malachi 2:7
For the lips of a priest (You are the priest) should guard knowledge, and people  should seek instruction from his  mouth, for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts
Ephesians 2:10
For we are His workmanship (His own master work, a work of art), created in Christ Jesus reborn (from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used) for good works, which God prepared (for us) beforehand (taking paths which He set), so that we would walk in them (living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us)
1 Thessalonians 2:4
But just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel (that tells the good news of salvation through faith in Christ), so we speak, not as (if we were trying) to please people (to gain power and popularity), but to please God who examines our hearts (expecting our best)
Ephesians 4:1-3
So I, the prisoner for the Lord, appeal to you to live a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called (that is, to live a life that exhibits godly character, moral courage, personal integrity, and mature behavior—a life that expresses gratitude to God for your salvation), with all humility(forsaking self-righteousness), and gentleness (maintaining self-control), with patience, bearing with one another in (unselfish) love. Make every effort to keep the oneness of the Spirit in the bond of peace (each individual working together to make the whole successful).
1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a consecrated nation, a (special) people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies (the wonderful deeds and virtues and perfections) of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
2 Corinthians 5:20
So we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making His appeal through us; we (as Christ’s representatives) plead with you on behalf of Christ to be reconciled to God.
