Why won’t you try dating that guy, he seems good to me? Why don’t you try out that business, it seems people are thriving? Why won’t you try that career path, it seems there are good job offers in the market? The list is endless on many occasions, where people gave us suggestions to try out ideas, things, and relationships but in real sense they seemed good ideas but not God ideas. Some of us ended up making huge mistakes just because, you opted to follow a suggestion but you never consulted God, if it was His will over your life.
Some years back, I literally made such a bad mistake because I opted to follow a suggestion, that was not God’s idea. If not all my readers, few can attest with me, there was a time in Kenya, where there were pyramid schemes all over. You were promised good returns, after you invested with these dubious financial organizations. They advertised how one could make more money within months, if you invested with them. Unfortunately, i feel victim by investing with one of the pyramid schemes and lost a chunk of my savings. Truth be told! I really wanted quick money and i had no time to inquire from God, if it was the right thing to do.
Most people all over the world have been duped because someone suggested a good idea to you, which was not God’s idea. On this post, I will categorically focus on two case studies, on the POWER OF SUGGESTION and its consequences. In the book of Genesis 3:1-6 we have a scenario, where the woman at the garden of Eden, is given a suggestion by the serpent and her choice to follow that suggestion led to the fall of man. In verse 2-4 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden;but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’”Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” The woman knew there was a tree she was not supposed to touch or eat but the serpent’s idea seemed too good to resist.
We also have another scenario in the book of Matthew 4:3-11,the devil wss up in arms to tempt Jesus by giving Him suggestions, which were meant to make the Son of God fall. Lets look in verse 8-11 Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him. This time round, his wits failed miserably because Jesus knew the truth and stood with God’s truth not to Tempt God nor worship anything or anybody except God.Both scenarios indicate the power of suggestion and the effects of falling into the trap of good ideas,which are out of God’s will.
Any suggestion you get, no matter how good it is, you must allow it to be vetted by God Himself. What do i mean, being vetted by God Himself? Get on your knees and ask God in prayer, if that idea is from Him or not. Trust me when I tell you, He will definitely give you a led, for he has promised us in Psalms 37:23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. Anything that is not built on God’s instructions will definitely wither out with time
So, who have you been listening to??Is it the talk shows? trust me when I tell, some of these shows have totally corrupted the word of God, on values about the family and marriage. Are celebrities busy influencing you to dress in a certain way, live in a certain way or relate in a certain way??Honey! Know whose you are and make a choice to make Godly decisions, no matter how many countless suggestions you get on a daily basis. God is not blind or deaf, to fail to see the suggestions you encounter everyday . All He desires, is for you to walk with Him all the way and make Him the center of your life. If an idea is not from God, you have no business of trying to woe Him to agree with you. You will end up, going round in circles, complaining of how hard life is, yet you ignored God’s leading’s.
Depending on other people’s knowledge than God’s leading’s, will only lead you to a life misery and disappointments.Always keep in mind,People come along your path, to channel what God has already planned out for you but not your Source.
