Your Place of Authority.

If most people all over the world, might be asked to give an honest feedback if they know their place of authority, some might think it’s all about holding a leadership position, being wealthy, coming from an influential background, having a good education or a good career. However, all that is false, it’s not what we own that determines our place of Authority or where we come from but having a clear understanding, of who we are as God’s children and exercising our Authority from a place of prayer backed up with faith.

Now ,let’s look at the life of Prophet Elijah, who God used powerfully to show case His might and power, for the children of Israel to turn back to Him.1 Kings 18:36-40  And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, “Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word. Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.”

38.Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench. Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, “The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God! And Elijah said to them, “Seize the prophets of Baal! Do not let one of them escape!” So they seized them; and Elijah brought them down to the Brook Kishon and executed them there.

From the above context of scripture, we have prophet Elijah who was willing to be a conduit of the manifestation of God’s power, at a time when there was so much wickedness by the children of Israel. They had turned away from God, they were literally worshipping false gods and they had almost killed all the true prophets God, except the once Obadiah had hidden in the caves and prophet Elijah Himself. Not only was it a tough season for the true prophets of God but it was also a season God desired to reveal Himself to the children of Israel.

God had all the Authority to reveal Himself to the children of Israel but He had to do that through a person, which was, to reveal Himself through His prophet. For God to send down His fire which consumed the sacrifice of Elijah, Prophet Elijah had to exercise his God given authority, through prayer and it was founded from a place of faith.

Take Note:-Only God can ignite His fire in you, however it’s your responsibility to nurture that fire not to fizzle out, through prayer, worship and studying God’s word, on a daily basis.            

For God to back us up with His fire and power as believers in this age, where there is so much wickedness, radicalization, perversion, deception and no fear for God, we have to be willing to exercise our Authority from a place of prayer, consecration, knowing God through His word and having faith in God. Please hear me out, Christianity is the only denomination, where the sick are healed, demons are cast out, genuine miracles, signs and wonders are experienced from a place of genuine love and Grace from God, that no other religion can experience.

As believers in the body of Christ, we have to be willing to be conduits of God’s power. God did not save you and me, for us to sit on our authority as believers. . Luke 10:18-19 And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

God has already given us authority and dominion to manifest His power, for there to be a difference between the world and His Kingdom. But does it mean the difference is for us to look cute!!!Absolutely not, God desires us to manifest His power for the world to now Him and turn their backs to Him.

When God showed Himself forth, by consuming the sacrifice Elijah had offered on Mount Camel, the children of Israel fell on their faces and worshipped Him. They acknowledged Him as the only God to be worshiped and not baal.1 Kings 18:38-39 Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench. Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, “The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!”

When we desire to be used of God and willing to exercise our God given Authority from a place of prayer and faith, people who have never known God, heard of Him or have given up on God because of deception, they will turn back to Him and acknowledge only the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob ought to be worshiped and not people, money, material things or power.

Do you know why the enemy attacks your prayer life??? Because through prayer, you obtain authority. When we stop praying, we leave the presence of God. We lose that relationship. But God wants the Church in general, to return to that life of prayer, to go into that secret place and hide in His presence.

Why is prayer so powerful when founded on faith and love??

1.When you pray you appropriate power Acts 12:5 Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church

2.. Everything that you have prayed in the will of God has not been forgotten. John 14:13-14 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

3.Every prayer answered reveals the favor of God. And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, 1 Chronicles 4:10 “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested.

3.Prayer is the only way to get bold and exercise Gods power and authority here on Earth. Mark 9:28-29 And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?”So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.”

4.Prayer is a place where you build your relationship with God, where you get to know Him. Philippians 3:10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,

5.All answered prayers are miracles. Matthew 6:6 But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

6.Prayer is the only way for your faith to grow through tough times. James 5:17-18  Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.

7.Prayer is the only way to wage spiritual war fare. Ephesians 6:11-12 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

8.Prayer is the only place you can encourage yourself in the Lord despite disappointments in life.1 Samuel 30:6-9 Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.Then David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech’s son, “Please bring the ephod here to me.” And Abiathar brought the ephod to David. So David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?” And He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.”

8.Prayer is a place where you obtain spiritual authority Without the authority that God gave you, you cannot fight against the enemy. Luke 10:18-19 And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

9.Prayer is the only way God will instruct you to live in His perfect will. Psalms 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.

10.Prayer is the place where the keys of the Kingdom are activated Matthew 16:19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

11.Prayer is the only place you will get your breakthrough, your victory your healing, your anointing.  2 Kings 19^:15^–19 Then Hezekiah prayed before the Lord, and said: “O Lord God of Israel, the One who dwells between the cherubim, You are God, You alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth. 16 Incline Your ear, O Lord, and hear; open Your eyes, O Lord, and see; and hear the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to reproach the living God. 17 Truly, Lord, the kings of Assyria have laid waste the nations and their lands, and have cast their gods into the fire; for they were not gods, but the work of men’s hands—wood and stone. Therefore they destroyed them. Now therefore, O Lord our God, I pray, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You are the Lord God, You alone.”

12.Prayer is the place where you expand territory . As your prayer life increases, your territory increases. When the church prays consistently, its territory is continually expanding. Territory represents your healing, miracles, breakthroughs, Genesis 32:26-29 And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.” But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!” So He said to him, “What is your name?” He said, “Jacob.” And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.” Then Jacob asked, saying, “Tell me Your name, I pray.” And He said, “Why is it that you ask about My name?” And He blessed him there.

13.Prayer is the only way to communicate with God. 2 Chronicles 7:14  if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
