Early in the Morning

Psalm 5:3
In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice;in the morning I lay my requests before you  and wait expectantly.
Are you usually distracted after you wake up that instead of spending time with God, you rush to your phone to check out what is new for the day or do you get so caught up with getting ready for the day in terms of preparing your family or yourself for work that you end up missing out the most important thing in life which is spending time with the one who woke you up?
The morning more than any other time of day, invites us to give God our first fruits, roll away our burdens, hear his teaching, and enjoy his love. Do not the birds set us an example early in the morning that they always wake up with Praise? Sun and clouds, birds and dew all gather morning by morning to remind us, The day is yours, and yours also the night; you established the sun and moon. Psalms 74:16
Before the day’s tasks demand to be done, before the headlines bring the world into our living rooms, before our phones beg for our attention, and before the air around us starts humming with activity, we desperately need to hear from God. We need the first voice of the day to be His. What could be more important in the morning than sitting before our Father, his word open in front of us, and asking him to teach us how we ought to walk and to please God 1 Thessalonians 4:1 (AMP)  Finally, believers, we ask and admonish you in the Lord Jesus, that you follow the instruction that you received from us about how you ought to walk and please God (just as you are actually doing) and that you excel even more and more (pursuing a life of purpose and living in a way that expresses gratitude to God for your salvation). This is what we want, isn’t it? And what better way to walk in God’s ways day by day than by asking him to lead us morning by morning?
What better time than the morning to reach ahead into the day, gather up every burden and care, and roll them, one by one, into our Father’s open hands? Isaiah 33:2 9 (NIV) Lord be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress.
I will be honest with you, It is a miserable experience to walk into the day unsure of God’s love, wondering whether his heart is in what we are doing or not. Yet many of us do wake up unsure, needing to hear of His love and be satisfied by his love again. The God who knows our frame, who remembers that we are dust, is always glad to remind us. He is always ready to steady our fragile hearts, and help us not only receive his love, but to walk into the day declaring it: Psalm 92:1–2 (NLT) It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to the Most High.  It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening.
So, how can you sustain this Spiritual Discipline?
  1. Have a desire to meet up with God since you are fostering a relationship with Him and not a ritual.
  2. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you in this walk to be disciplined and committed.
  3. Set your alarm two hours before your normal routine kicks off.
  4. Be intentional to study the word and also pray.
  5. Have a journal where you can write what the Lord reveals to you.
  6. Include a session for worship and praise to stir up the atmosphere within you.

Love ReinaBeaty.
