Spending Quality Time With God

Have you ever felt like you are cheating on God? You know for sure you are supposed to create time in spending time with Him but always finding excuses why you can’t?
Personally, I have been there when I knew I was supposed to spend time with God in prayer and studying His word but decided to do something else.
I recall how sometime back, while i was on leave, I bought a chunk of movies inclusive of series in the mix. So, it was time to spoil myself as I thought, doing absolutely nothing, except watching one movie after another. After spending several hours enjoying one of my hobbies, it dawned on me I was ignoring God.
I was enjoying myself which is not bad , but how could I spend my entire time enjoying one of my favorite hobby but fail to create time for God? Let’s be real ,how many times do we commit our time to social media, to hanging out with friends and doing all other things that seem important to us but in the mix of it all ,we fail to create time for God?
This got me to a place of thinking, how couples who once loved each other feel betrayed, when one partner is not showing any concern or they turn their attention to something or someone else. I ll be honest, most of them feel cheated and they are like.” what on Earth did I do wrong?”
God has feelings to and whenever we ignore Him as His children, He’s like “my daughter/son ,i have given you everything that you have and if you only knew how much more you will enjoy through me, you would create time for me”. God continuously wants to reveal Himself to us on a daily basis but as you enjoy yourself, are you eliminating God from your space? Are you denying Him the opportunity to weed out anything that is hindering your garden from being productive?
I have come to realize ,lack of creating time to tap into the knowledge , power and God’s anointing through meditating on His word and prayer, we unconsciously create an avenue ,where weeds grow in our hearts. Naturally, weeds spring up in gardens where healthy plants have not been cultivated right!!!
This simply means, when we fail to cultivate the garden in our heart, weeds will sprout up with time. They will be in form of negative emotions, attitude, habits or a mindset, that will block us from having connotative connections and freedom in our lives.

However, when we consciously spend time with God, He is able to reveal and weed out weeds in our heart’s that are chocking or depriving our maximum productivity as believers.

Let’s look at Mark 1:34-39 Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed. and Simon and those who were with Him searched for Him. When they found Him, they said to Him, “Everyone is looking for You.”But He said to them, “Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also, because for this purpose I have come forth.”And He was preaching in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and casting out demons.
From the above context of scripture, despite of Jesus being the son of God, He cherished His time with God. He was all perfect, all knowing, all powerful but as the Son of God, He created time to spend with the Father. He had to keep off from His daily routine, to tap into the palms of His Father through prayer.

While Jesus was seeking God, people were looking for Him. Creating an avenue of seeking God, you give Him access to cultivate your heart by weeding out weeds which inhabit your fruitfulness. This will led to right people looking for you, great opportunities opening up for you, divine ideas will start popping up like popcorns and your destiny/purpose will be awakened.

It’s my prayer God will minister to you in a special way through this blog post.

Love Reina Beaty
