As we come to the end of February 2018, what are your expectations in God??I know most of us are walking in expectations, to experience the goodness of God in the land of the living. However, as much as we desire to experience God’s goodness, we have to position ourselves properly through preparations, for His blessings. The way we talk, think and act ,will eventually determine, how we handle God’s blessings that are readily available.
Let’s look at Mark 10:46-52 Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, “Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you.” And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus. So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want Me to do for you? “The blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, that I may receive my sight. “Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.
So what can we glean from the above Bible context.
1.Position yourself strategically for blessings.
When we are expecting guests in our homes, we don’t sit back and fail to prepare sumptuous meal for our guests right!!We plan ahead by preparing. If that’s the case when we are anticipating guests in our homes, the same should also apply when we are anticipating to experience God’s blessings.
When Bartimaeus heard that Jesus was visiting Jericho, he prepared beforehand and sat strategically at the path where Jesus was to pass.
2.Take Action.
Use what you have to get what you don’t have. You may not have the money to propel you where you desire to be in the near future but you have a vision, a dream or a gift. Sharpen your skills and you will get what you currently don’t have. God will fund your purpose and not your confusion .Get moving.
Though he was blind, he used his ears very well to hear that Jesus was coming to the city and also his mouth to call upon Jesus
3.Beware of the Dream Killers.
Get the facts right of who you are, whose you are and refuse anyone to talk you out of your God given dream. Please hear me out; you are a child of the most High God, who God desires to experience a victorious life. You are someone Heavens know your existence, impact and you are profoundly important to the greater kingdom story.Fight for your dream
The crowd rebuked him and tried to shut him down, but he pressed on until Jesus heard his cries. He was fully focused on his dream, and cared less about the people’s opinion
4.Patience and Persistence Pays.
Being delayed is not being denied.God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?Numbers 23;19.His promises will surely come to pass if you believe, if you stay patient and if you stay persistent at the same time. After all these struggles, Jesus eventually heard the shout, and ordered the people to call Bartimaeus
5.God can use even your enemies to deliver your blessings.
If the enemy is trying to silence you, it means God is getting you ready to receive His blessings. The same crowd that was rebuking Bartimaeus was the same that God ordered to summon him for his blessings.
6.You cannot climb the hill of success while dressed in the attire of failure.
You cannot receive what Heavens have already released, if you have clothed your inner man, with garments of low self-esteem, a negative mindset,. You have to put on the garment of grace, to experience God’s blessings. I have penned downGarment of Grace which I believe is a good read, to connect with this particular post.
When Bartimaeus was called out, he threw his cloak aside and jumped to Jesus. The attires of failure include negative attitude, low self esteem, etc
7.Be specific with your dream.
Be specific with what you want. You were not created to do everything and be everything. You were designed for a specific purpose.
Jesus asked him; “what do you want”, and he replied; “I want to see”. Always be sure and specific with what you want and present your request to God.
8.God’s time is the best.
When God speaks, all your shame and blindness goes away and all your enemies go silent as they watch your blessings.
God is not preparing the blessings for us, He wants us to be prepared, to receive His readily available blessings.
God is not preparing the blessings for us, He wants us to be prepared, to receive His readily available blessings.
God desires the best for you.
