Trust me when I tell you, change is never a comfortable transition. Maybe you are so used to a certain way of living and an opportunity comes along and you are forced to relocate or you’ve just given your life to Christ and you have to kiss some friends goodbye .Change is never comfortable but it’s an indicator, you are embracing maturity and ready to conquer the giants.
Some few years ago, there was such an, excitement in Turkana (Northern Kenya) when oil and water was discovered in large quantities. Let me give you a small history of this area, Turkana is not like most counties in Kenya, it’s a semi-Arid area, where there is little rainfall and most people in this area are pastoralist. They depend on pastoralism reason being, the climate and the land itself is not condusive for farming. So, whenever there is drought in our nation, the most affected communities come from this area.
The discovery of oil and water in this part of the Country, attracted investors who were willing to partner with the Kenyan government. Before the discovery, Turkana was a deserted area with poor infrastructures and the economic growth of this particular county, was very slow. A land that was not valuable, a land that was neglected, a land that nobody thought would hold immense resources, finally became a land that had great wealth, to boast the economy of the Kenyan government. Coming to think of it, the oil and the water that was discovered in this part of Kenya which is semi-arid, has always been there. With all excitement, change was inevitable. Local communities had to be relocated and compensated to pave way for development, which did not rub some people very well. Some political leaders complained and incited people, not to relocate without explaining to them in detail, the benefits that would come with oil discovery and exploration.
This whole issue led to some delays however after some time, the matter was settled. This clearly shows, no matter how good the change was beneficial to residents in that community, it was not comfortable. So where am I going with all this????Whatever God wants to accomplish in your life through you, is already within you yet it will require change which is not comfortable.
In Matthew 14 . 14-20 And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food.” But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.” And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.” He said, “Bring them here to Me.” Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained.
From the above context, the disciples were suggesting to Jesus, to allow the people to travel back home, after a very powerful sermon, as most of us would say in today’s age According to scripture, despite of Jesus healing the sick, the multitude were physically tired, hungry, the place was deserted and the journey to travel to their villages was quite a long one. I really love the response that Jesus gave His disciples, they do not need to go away, you give them something to eat.
Jesus knew whatever was required to feed the multitude, was readily available in a deserted place. The miracle of multiplication that Jesus performed in feeding the five thousand men, excluding women and children was package in five loaves and two fishes, which was not outside the deserted place but inside the deserted place.
Don’t be fooled you have to be like so and so, in order to accomplish your assignment here on Earth.What God desires to accomplish through you in transforming lives, in changing your society, in impacting generations is already within you and not on the outside.

The disciples offered to Jesus what was available (five loaves and two fishes) which He multiplied to feed the multitude, as for you, it can be your gift, your finances, your time, your service,your faithfulness or your obedience to His instructions.God will always multiply what you are willing to sacrifice to Him in faith, Are you willing to sacrifice your time to be mentored??Are you willing to sacrifice your time to study His word, fast and pray?? Are you willing to sacrifice your resources in advancing His kingdom agenda??Are you willing to sacrifice your time in serving somebody’s else vision and are you willing to offer your own body as a living sacrifice to Him???
The change to impact lives ain’t comfortable as many might think. For there to be revival in our schools, in our communities and in our nation, we have to allow God to unsettle us from our place of comfort to a place of increase which is CHANGE. Jesus did not die for me, myself and I, He died for every soul to have eternal life.God desires us to Increase in love, in wisdom, in understanding, in faith, in wealth, in divine health, so that people, who come into contact with us, can tap into the increase that flows in our lives.. Instead of complaining who is not doing this or that!!! Be the change you desire to see in your society and in this generation. God has already deposited within you, what it takes to make that change.
