Most relationships be it at home, in the office, in business circles, in church,in our neighborhoods or in marriage, have gone through rough patches due to disloyalty. I believe there might be someone reading this post and you have been hurt through betrayal and you feel like there is no need of being; loyal to others. You rarely trust anyone and when genuine people or genuine opportunities come along your path, you hardly take notice of them due to fear of being hurt again.
So what is being loyal? Good question, being loyal is being faithful, honest and devoted to someone. In general…….Being loyal to God, to your parents, to your spouse, to that friend, or those in authority is not a state of being weak but a state of maturity to keep your commitments and obligations, no matter how you feel or the pressures you might be facing. You might think the statement am using, is way too much to offer in a society where people can hardly be trusted.
We all need to understand, what we sow is what we reap later on in life. Sow disloyalty and trust me on this, higher chances are, you will attract people who are disloyal as you however when you are genuinely loyal ,chances of attracting people who are loyal like you are high. Like minds always attract right. Now, don’t get me wrong on this, I don’t mean you should be naïve and allow anyone to manipulate you because you are loyal. Loyalty ought to be seasoned with love, wisdom, trust and honor.
For a couple of weeks now, I have been studying the book of Daniel and there is so much we can glean from his life and one is, He was loyal. Everyone who knew Daniel, knew he was more loyal to his God more than to anyone or anything else yet he had an excellent spirit, which was evident in all that he did.In Daniel 6:4-5 So the governors and satraps sought to find some charge against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find no charge or fault, because he was faithful; nor was there any error or fault found in him. Then these men said, “We shall not find any charge against this Daniel unless we find it against him concerning the law of his God.
Listen!!!Daniel never faced opposition from people he never knew???No, no, no he faced opposition from people he worked with, people he meet with almost on a daily basis and people who knew him as a loyal person. But no matter the opposition Daniel faced, he was loyal to God and kept his commitments. He never allowed His title, influence or power he had as a governor, stop him from being loyal to God.
Let’s look in Daniel 6 :16 So the king gave the command, and they brought Daniel and cast him into the den of lions. But the king spoke, saying to Daniel, “Your God, whom you serve continually, He will deliver you. When He was thrown into the lion’s Den, losing his title or position, was not an issue as long as, he was loyal to God. Coming to think of it, when King Dairus told him “Your God” shows how Daniel was not ashamed for his stand and everybody knew that. It’s wonderful to note God did not save Daniel from the lion’s Den; He saved him in the lion’s den.
God saved Daniel in the lion’s den, to show forth His might, his authority which automatically made King Dairus a heathen King, to know the true God of Israel and out of conviction, He had no choice but to command everybody to worship the true God. Daniel 6:25-27 Then King Darius wrote: To all peoples, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied to you.I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel. For He is the living God, And steadfast forever; His kingdom is the one which shall not be destroyed,And His dominion shall endure to the end.He delivers and rescues, And He works signs and wonders In heaven and on earth, Who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions. It’s my prayer as believers, out of love we have for God,we will be so loyal to Him in such a way,the world will get to know our God in a profound way of accepting and believing in Him, through our actions, our words and how we treat/value people.
Take note:-God is moved when you are loyal to Him and He will always teach you on how to be loyal to those in authority, to your parents, to your spouse, to your friends, to your family members or to your assignments and when opposition arises to challenge your stand and your faith in Him, He will surely deliver you as He delivered Daniel out of the lion’s den unharmed.
If you have gone through betrayal and hurt in the past, don’t stop being loyal. Forgive those who hurt you and trust God to heal your heart, in order to love and sow seeds of loyalty to those He aligns in your path. God has a way of rewarding anyone who is genuinely loyal to Him and to His people.Look at Mordecai in the book of Esther chapter 6 & 8 not only was He loyal to God, he was also loyal to those in Authority and God honored and uplifted Him.
The question is not what would make you feel good but what’s going to take you to the place God ultimately wants you to go.Make up your mind from today, you will love, trust, hope and you will not walk in fear, in bitterness, in-security or with a heart of vengeance.

The best is definitely ahead of You
