Sunday’s for me it’s usually a busy day, so some few months ago after a powerful sermon and a great opportunity to serve in God’s house, i had an urge to watch evening news which I hardly do. Scrolling for which news channel to watch, while taking my dinner, an interesting News headline was dominating the screens about a young lady who won the London marathon from my country Kenya. This headline for me, was quite unique and very inspiring. Trust me! Many people register, train and compete for marathon events but hardly get to the finish line.
On this post, I salute Jemima Sumgong for her resilience and persistence in winning this particular marathon. She has made several appearances in marathons around the world, from New York to Boston and Chicago marathons but this particular one had its own share of challenges. While on the race, Jemima Sumgong stumbled and fell but this never stopped her from running and finally winning the women’s London Marathon. According to her sentiments after winning the race, she had this to say “I was just concentrating on my running; It was very painful on my head, my shoulder and my knee. But I feel OK now. I enjoyed it.” That ought to be our attitude as believers in Jesus Christ, while going through challenges in life. Let’s be real here!! There are days when you go through so much and you are left wondering if you will ever achieve your goals or let me say accomplish your purpose here on earth. Many believers have given up on God and others have compromised their walk with God.
We all need to know, God is very clear in His word; He has not promised us a smooth life but he has promised;- He will never leave nor forsake us.
I believe there is someone out there reading this post and you have messed up big time, you don’t know how to collect yourself together and finish your race. You ain’t the only person who has messed up, everybody has been down, Hit the bottom and hit the ground. The good news is,our God is a God of another chance but are you willing to embrace His Grace and mercy to rise above condemnation and guilt??
Take note:-The enemy the Devil is very calculating, He is after your joy, your freedom, your peace and he ain’t done with you if you are busy entertaining his schemes. Stumbling does not mean God is done with you; it means get up, shake the dust off and focus on God to work on you to finish your race victoriously.
