One of the biggest ways the enemy threatens you, is through ‘intimidation’. The last thing he wants,is for you ‘a champion’ not to move past your past. We have all made mistakes or decisions which we are not so proud of. Thankfully, through Christ, those things have been erased in His sight and we have been made new. “This means that anyone who accepts Christ, has become a new person”. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” 2 Corinthians 5:17.Not only have our mistakes been forgiven and washed clean, but so also the byproducts called shame and guilt. Shame is such a toxic emotion and if allowed, it lingers to torture us into feeling unworthy of moving forward which makes a lot of believers to be stuck in repression. God, the only one whose opinion really matters, says that we have been set free from our mistakes. He wants to use our iniquities in great ways to influence and heal others. He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people.Titus 2:14.
Even though there are countless promises in God’s Word, ensuring restoration and redemption from our past shame remains a huge demon that people continue to battle with. Why? “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6:12. The enemy is constantly at war with you, since you are of Kingdom royalty. He fears your potential and influence and will play on shame and guilt to defeat you. He disguises his crippling arrows by using people who speak deadly words of accusation, doubt and condemnation but none of these are from God, so take your thoughts captive quickly before you allow his lies to take root. This is why 1 Peter 5:8 says, “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” Do not be alarmed when you start doing the very thing God has placed in your heart, and you begin to see discouragement or attack. As a matter of fact, you should expect it and be encouraged that you are on the right track. Remember the phrase, “NEXT LEVEL, NEW DEVIL.” .
Our focus should not be, to prove we are perfect Christians Instead, we are to believe we have been healed and that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. When you are faced with intimidation causing you to shrink back in shame, talk back to that lie with this truth:-
