When God Puts A Song In Your Heart

Psalms 77:6-I call to remembrance my song in the night; I meditate within my heart, and my spirit makes diligent search.

Have you ever woken up in the morning and there is a new song in your Spirit that you can’t get it off your mind? This has happened to me many times especially after waking up in the morning. Recently, i went to sleep and i will be real ,there was so much going on and i didn’t have a rough idea on what to do. As usual i did my night devotion and prayed and allowed the whole thing to slip through until when i woke up with a new song in my Spirit. I searched this song online and guess what! as i listened to it and sang it over and over, i experienced the healing balm of Gilead.This song held my very heart together from breaking down mentally and physically.

So why does God put a song in our hearts both in good and bad times?

1.God puts a Song of Deliverance to take our eyes from the Red Sea and towards the Redeemer.

Exodus 15 :2 The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

The Israelite’s saw the big Red Sea in front of them and an army of Egyptians behind them but the good news is, God had promised deliverance from bondage . It is in that dark moment that God parted the Red Sea and the children of Israel saw the salvation on God..It is right after they crossed the Red Sea and watched their enemies drowned that a song erupted.

Have you ever found  yourself sandwiched between a huge Sea and an army or you are currently facing one? Our Redeemer lives and HE is greater than any mountain you are facing. Psalm 32: 7 You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance

2. God puts a Song of Praise so that it can be a place of testimony for others in shackles.

Acts 16:25-26 But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. ²⁶ Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed.

In Acts 16, we read how some opportunists made quick money out of a young slave girl who was filled with demonic spirits by fortune telling. Paul and Silas were on their way to a prayer house and when they noticed this young girl was operating with a familiar Spirit, thy cast the demon out. But this action didn’t go well with her owners, they were so enraged that their livelihood was taken from them, that they ended up stirring a crowd to strip and beat up these men of God. Paul and Silas ended up being flogged and they were thrown into the prison and a prison warden was ordered to guard them.

However when midnight came the Lord dropped a song in Paul and Silas and they sang loudly as the prisoners listened to them. As they were singing something supernatural happened , an earthquake shook the prison walls loose and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed. This is where i wanted to get to ,once the prison warder woke from his sleep and noticed the prison doors were opened ,his immediate thought was to commit suicide since he thought there was a prison break and all prisoners had escaped.  But this was a divine opportunity for Paul and Silas to stop the Prison warden from committing such an act and an avenue for them to share the Gospel to the man and his entire family. Acts 16:28-32 But Paul called with a loud voice, saying, “Do yourself no harm, for we are all here.” Then he called for a light, ran in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. ³⁰ And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” ³¹ So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” ³² Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. Please hear me out my beloved, your song and your positive confession in your midnight hour, might be the only encouragement and a witness to somebody else who might be going through what you are going through.

When God puts a song in our heart, our prison walls will become a place of Heavenly commission and our messes become a place of ministry that will draw at least one person to Jesus Christ. A heart that sings the revealed song in the midnight hour experiences the true joy that comes in the morning. They find shelter upon the Rock of their Salvation.

3. God puts a Song of victory to foreshadow what Heaven will look like .

Psalm 40: 3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in him.

I am a self -certified kitchen and bathroom singer and if I am not singing, then I am either humming a tune or listening to music. I hope you love to sing or listen to songs because Heaven will be full of amazing singing and singers. Hannah, Moses, Miriam, David, Solomon, Paul, and all the saints who have gone before us sang here on this earth.So, when God puts a song in our heart, it opens a door of deliverance from the very gloomy place the Devil wanted you to be trapped inside.

Sing that Song and allow the Spirit of God to take over.
