Be Serious With God

1 Samuel 9:15-17

Now the day before Saul came, the Lord had revealed this to Samuel: “About this time tomorrow I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin. Anoint him ruler over my people Israel; he will deliver them from the hand of the Philistines. I have looked on my people, for their cry has reached me.”When Samuel caught sight of Saul, the Lord said to him, “This is the man I spoke to you about; he will govern my people.”

1 Samuel 13:7-14

Saul remained at Gilgal, and all the troops with him were quaking with fear. ⁸ He waited seven days, the time set by Samuel; but Samuel did not come to Gilgal, and Saul’s men began to scatter. ⁹ So he said, “Bring me the burnt offering and the fellowship offerings.” And Saul offered up the burnt offering. ¹⁰ Just as he finished making the offering, Samuel arrived, and Saul went out to greet him. “What have you done?” asked Samuel.Saul replied, “When I saw that the men were scattering, and that you did not come at the set time, and that the Philistines were assembling at Mikmash, ¹² I thought, ‘Now the Philistines will come down against me at Gilgal, and I have not sought the Lord’s favor.’ So I felt compelled to offer the burnt offering.“You have done a foolish thing,” Samuel said. “You have not kept the command the Lord your God gave you; if you had, he would have established your kingdom over Israel for all time. ¹⁴ But now your kingdom will not endure; the Lord has sought out a man after his own heart and appointed him ruler of his people, because you have not kept the Lord’s command.”

From the above contexts of Scriptures,we read how God Himself appointed and settled for Saul to be the first King over the children of Israel.However,King Saul took a different turn when he failed to have a revelation behind God’s anointing upon his life.His approval addiction to men, costed his lineage the anointing to kingship and rulership. He had God’s anointing to do what was right but unfortunately that was never the case.

Today, i know we are in a generation where making decisions that are pleasing to men is the norm but they will COST YOU.Don’t be a captive to men’s opinions that you end up short changing your destiny, in the view you don’t want to loose some relationships.You can be busy saving some relationships that are leading you away from your God ordained pathway which I call gambling with time, at the expense of your God ordained Destiny.You can be busy doing things in the name of getting approval from people yet God is not near what you are doing but when all is said and done,God is after the motives of our hearts.

Be serious with God and He will be serious with you.

Your obedience to the Holy Spirit will brush some people off the wrong way but let your Yes be a Yes and No be a No.I’ll be real with you, the path that looks cheap will cost you big time but the path that looks hard is the cheapest that is around.Obey God’s leading today and you will understand the results you will encounter several years from now. God’s ways are not popular but they will give you distinction.
