Where do you place your confidence?? Do you place your confidence in your job, in your spouse, in your business, in your academic qualifications or in your titles??You might think you have it all together, when you place confidence on things which are passing away and on people who will one way or another disappoint you big time.God never created us to place our confidence on people or on things!!!He created us to rely on Him 101%,so when you face disappointments from people don’t get bitter and critical, God clearly wants you to place your confidence on Him, period!!! Isaiah knew it well when he wrote in Isaiah 2:22 Don’t put your trust in mere humans. They are as frail as breath. What good are they? The only confidence we should bank on, is our confidence in God and the psalmist clearly states in Psalms118:8-9 It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in people. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes. At times we try to fix God in a corner in doing things our way yet He wants us to place our confidence in Him without wavering.
In Daniel 3:8-19 we have a scenario where three men refused to bow down to the system of Babylon , Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. They were leaders, they had influence but despite of their stature, they refused to bow down to pressure in worshipping foreign gods Daniel 3:16-18 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.” They were bold enough to stand on truth and had full confidence in God to save them in the blazing furnace. You might be going through a tough situation which might be similar from what these men went through but in a different context In life you will come face to face with a lot of things that will pressure you to lose your confidence on God or place your confidence on things or people but God has given us amazing backing from His word, on how to stand and place our confidence in Him despite life challenges
Let’s be real, life sometimes throws us curve balls we never saw coming and when that happens, our confidence can feel like it evaporates in an instant. In seconds, we can go from feeling successful to completely insecure. It can happen at work when we fail to reach a goal, when we make a mistake or don’t land a project, It can happen in our personal lives when a relationship ends, or we learn our children are in trouble. And it can send us on a roller coaster of emotions but God wants us stable. God wants us to have full confidence in His wisdom, power and will despite life challenges. When you find yourself walking through the blazing furnace, react like a person who is confident and know that situation which is just a season will eventually come to pass. Be confident that any rocky terrain you encounter has nothing to do with your decision making and everything to do with God’s leading’s.
Running all over looking for who will listen, who will understand your situation , who will help you, will only draw you away from God by placing your confidence on men than on God. God wants you to stand still and place your confidence in Him during life challenges, He wants you to listen to His instructions on what to do next, He wants you to trust in HIM.
