Recently I was watching an interesting documentary of how Libya as a nation is trying to get back to its feet, after a period of civil war and destruction. I was completely puzzled on the negative effects of war and its magnitude to bring a strong, powerful and rich nation to its knees. Against the backdrop of war, Libya’s economic and social achievement over the last thirty years was brutally reversed in a span of 2 Years. Before the war, Libya was one of the richest Country in Africa, which boosted a high standard of living. During this time of civil war many people were killed, infrastructure that took years to build was completely destroyed; I mean everything that could get destroyed was literally destroyed. Looking at photos of Libya before and after the war, one is left disappointed of how disagreements, greed, love for power, disunity and dictatorship in the leadership structure can literally destroy a Nation. It’s sad to say, rebuilding such a Nation to its former glory might take several years, depending on combined efforts by the citizens, working together with the leadership structure. What started as a revolution in Libya, ended up being a huge civil war that spiraled out of control.
Someone reading or watching wars in Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq might think this happens to some people but let me shock your bubbles, this can still occur to anyone, when you give the devil an opportunity to be in charge of your control room the (Mind). John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. In the book of Nehemiah 1&2 we have almost the same scenario in Jerusalem where the city was in ruins and the Jews were in great distress. When Nehemiah got to know the situation in Jerusalem,he mourned because the city that was meant to be a light to the nations had become an international joke. This moved Nehemiah to take action in rebuilding the walls, an act that nobody had taken any initiative. Nehemiah actions represented His change of thought, that Jerusalem could still be rebuilt to its former glory. His tactfulness, boldness, wisdom and persistence to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem never allowed him to bow to oppositions and ridicules from the likes of Sanballat. Tobiah and ,Geshem who were against the well-being of the children of Israel. I personally believe, there is someone reading this post and you have messed up big time and wondering in your mind “how will I rebuild my life?”
Our God is a God of Grace, Mercy and definitely willing to give anyone who asks and willing another chance. The journey of rebuilding your life might not be an easy one but it’s worth the try than giving up.
Nehemiah had the chance to give up but he did not allow ridicule or opposition to weigh him down. Trust me on this champion! Whenever you desire to do something different and live a lifestyle that honors God, there will always be people who will oppose you, mock you, laugh at you but as long as you have God, that’s all you need.
You will never discover the potential and power within you, unless you try, what God has told to do and stand strong to the fulfillment of His word.
Do you know the most hopeless people in the world, are not the ones who don’t have money? but the ones who know they have a problem, but don’t trust God to solve the problem. You have to take charge and work with God in rebuilding your life.
How do you start Rebuilding your life again?
1. Believe in God again
God desires us to trust Him with everything. He created us and He knows our end from the beginning.
John 1:12
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
2.Forgive
The greatest power you have over anyone who hurts you,is the power of forgiveness.Despite the betrayal, hurt and rejection choose to forgive for your own freedom.
Colossians 3:13
Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
Matthew 6:14
For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
1 Peter 3:19
Not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.
3. Be bold
Say no to intimidation
Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Hebrews 13:6
So we may boldly say:“The Lord is my helper;I will not fear. What can man do to me?”
4. Surrender
Surrender is not an act of weakness but an act of walking into freedom.
James 4:7
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Jeremiah 10:23
O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man who walks to direct his own steps.
5.Seek God’s Guidance
Through prayer, God will show you the next move to make from relationships,to career and definitely to fulfilling your purpose.
Psalms 32:8
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;I will guide you with My eye.
John 14:13-14
And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.
6.Speak God’s word over your life over and over
God wants us to walk by faith and not by sight. Stating the obvious doesn’t change anything and will only make us more fearful. Speaking the good that we want to see, on the other hand, gives us hope, builds faith and changes things for the better.
Proverbs 18:21
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
John 15:7
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
7. Stop Procrastination
There is no better time to start rebuilding your life like now. You hardly know about tomorrow but you have today to make that change.
Proverbs 13:4
The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.
Hebrews 12:11
Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
8.Kiss Men’s approval goodbye
Just like Nehemiah, he had the choice to be weighed down by Sanballat. Tobiah and Geshem but he never gave them that opportunity.
Psalm 118:8
It is better to trust in the Lord Than to put confidence in man.
Psalm 146:3
Do not put your trust in princes,Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help.
Jeremiah 17:5
Thus says the Lord:“Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength,Whose heart departs from the Lord.
When storms have passed!!!
Pull yourself together and rebuild yourself.
Don’t waste your time
………looking back……..
