Everything that we see is God’s creation be it caves, mountains, lakes,rivers etc. all that took Him only six days to create. While meditating on God’s beautiful creation I came across such an interesting feature about caves around the world. What are caves??They are natural underground chambers which are found on hill sides.Most caves tend to be very dark, be it during the day or at night, hence artificial light is used to lighten them up, if they are being used as tourist attraction sites .
In New Zealand, there is such an amazing cave Known as Waitomo cave, where there is natural lighting, created by small creatures known as glow-worms. They make the cave different from the rest of the caves around the world,due its unique feature of being lit by tiny worms which reside there. It’s interesting to learn only in Waitomo cave, you can find these glow worms. These glow worms are very tiny but their light illuminates the cave and makes it beautiful and outstanding.
Using such an illustration, it’s a clear indicator that anyone can radiate the light of God, wherever he/she is, even in the darkest place, as long as you have Christ dwelling within you. As I write this post, the world is in great spiritual darkness, people are lost from knowing the truth of God, which is light.God’s word clearly indicates:-
Matthew 5:14-17 You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Ephesians 5:8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.At one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord.
Romans 2:19 And are confident that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,
1 Peter 2:11-12 Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul,Having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.
The above scriptures indicate , we as born-again Christians ought to be the light, this world is searching for. Not only that, they both clarify that, “The fruit of light is found in all that is good, right and true.” The shining of your light as a believer in Christ, should bear practical fruit in “good deeds”. When light gets near a dark thing truth happens,things are seen for what they really are, deceptions and half-truths are blown away. Therefore, Radiating the light of God, is one of the greatest callings we have as followers of Jesus and that is,allowing our light to shine in two ways:-
1.By cultivating a pure heart, which will influence our actions and words.
2.By exposing darkness with truth.
Unless Christians hold up the true light in contrast with the world’s darkness, they are like a false light. Non- believers around you are watching you, listening to how you talk,act and they are checking on your character, to see whether you represent the Christ you profess to them.
Take Note:-
Light always exposes darkness, you can be the only one in your office saying no to bribes but at the end of it all, you are exposing darkness and illuminating God’s light within you. When people look at you, let them see God’s glory and splendor all over you .Let me clarify this, your light ought to be manifested outside the four walls of the church. Don’t get it twisted, a Sunday service is meant to help us in having fellowship with fellow brethren and the word we get, is meant to guide us in studying and knowing God’s word, which helps us in our daily walk with God.
Am not here to judge but stop trying to put on a holy than thou personality in church yet at home, your neighbors and colleagues at work, can hardly attest that Jesus dwells in you. Nobody is perfect, we fail at some point in life but let our motivation in doing anything, be to glorify our Father. We have to keep in mind, the world is ailing and we need to let our light shine, so that they can get attracted to what is in us. Just like the glow-worms, they are tiny worms but their natural ability to light up the cave makes ,Waitamo cave different from the rest of the caves in the world. No matter how simple you are, let your light shine even in the darkest place.
Small lights have a way of being seen in a dark world,
