How many people like fashion like I do??i bet we are many. I absolutely like dressing up and looking all good, which is always generated from within because I love me. Looking good should always come from a place of self-love. All over the world, people have different motives why they dress the way they do right!!but no matter how elegant we might look, how costly we might shop for our outer garment, God is after our inner garment.
Let’s look at Matthew 21:9-14 Now go out to the street corners and invite everyone you see.’ So the servants brought in everyone they could find, good and bad alike, and the banquet hall was filled with guests. “But when the king came in to meet the guests, he noticed a man who wasn’t wearing the proper clothes for a wedding. ‘Friend,’ he asked, ‘how is it that you are here without wedding clothes?’ But the man had no reply. Then the king said to his aides, ‘Bind his hands and feet and throw him into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. “For many are called, but few are chosen.”
Jesus was teaching through a parable, of how a King prepared an expensive banquet but people were declining to go. I can only imagine in today’s time, how people would gate crush such an opportunity. Yeah! Most of us watched the guest list of the just concluded royal wedding in Wales, invite guests were the who and who’s in the royal circles and the celebrity circles. The rest of us!!we watched it on our Tv sets. if I was invited for a such a banquet, I would honor it and prepare to attend beforehand.
So where am going with all this!!!Jesus was illustrating on the importance of the eternal kingdom of God in this particular context. This particular King, invited the good and the bad people in his banquet but why was the man without the wedding garment kicked out??The king was not looking for perfect guests to dine with him in his extravagant banquet but people who were willing, to wear the wedding garment he had requested each guest to wear.
God is not looking for perfect people to attain eternal life, but people who are willing to accept Jesus Christ, as their personal savior. Despite of our sins, Jesus is the only garment that God wants us to cloth our inner man with. Jesus will not only make you beautiful in your inward man but your beauty will resonate to the outward.
