An expensive affair

Have you ever committed yourself to something, which costed you more than you anticipated?? Let me use relationships, since this is an area where most of us can relate with. I know some of you if not all, have been in a relationship that didn’t work out, as you expected. You invested your time, resources, heart and in most cases, you gave out your soul to someone, who was not meant for you through compromise.
After months, others it’s years, you end up realizing you were not supposed to be with this person and the best thing you do as a person who desires a good life, you call off the relationship and begin a new chapter, as a single person once again. Having a conversation with someone close to you, who has encountered a broken relationship, they will actually tell you, how they had invested so much in that relationship yet it failed.
I have been there and I know what it means to let go of someone, whom I thought was Mr. Right. Personally, there was so much compromise in maintaining this relationship, which was completely outside the will of God. I knew for sure this relationship was drawing me further away from God, it was draining me emotionally, it was not making me any better as a person and it was such an expensive affair to maintain in the long run considering, what I had to invest in order for it work.
Using the above simple illustration, how many of us are already involved in relationships, business ventures or projects, which are fueled from a place of compromise? How many of us are entangled in situations, that we know very well,we are outside the will of God and making the matters worse, they are too expensive to maintain emotionally, physically and mentally??They are high maintenance but you are still clinging on them like a thread??
Let’s look at 1 Kings 11 :9-11 So the Lord became angry with Solomon, because his heart had turned from the Lord God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice, 10 and had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods; but he did not keep what the Lord had commanded. 11 Therefore the Lord said to Solomon, “Because you have done this, and have not kept My covenant and My statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom away from you and give it to your servant.
King Solomon was the wisest ruler who ever lived in the Old Testament but he turned his heart away from God, through compromise. God had anointed Him, his leadership skills attracted rulers from far and beyond, he had divine encounters with God but His life of compromise costed him, his generations and ten kingdoms in tow.He knew very well, forming alliance by marrying foreign women, was completely against the will of God yet he allowed his flesh, to rule over him than God having rule over his own life.
Despite of King Solomon knowing very well he was anointed with wisdom and wealth from God,he was very reluctant towards the kind of people who surrounded him and the kind of influence they had towards him, which was negative. If you desire to have a deeper walk with God or get further away from God, just check out your circle. Who are your real friends, how are they influencing you??Are they honest with you or are they watching you fall into a ditch as they watch??Are you allowing people to use God’s access points when they are offering you counsel, or do you just adhere to their opinions in order to get their approval?

You will never get clear cut signal from God, if there is no connection that directs you to Him. Be intentional today to identify any dysfunctional relationships and cut them off. Bad company will always ruin good intentions and chock God’s flow in your own life

Please hear me out, whenever we keep on running back to the flesh than the Spirit of God, our hearts become clogged from knowing the perfect will of God and our eyes become spiritually blind to see what God wants us to see. Flesh will never respond to the call of God over your life and no flesh can handle what God is about to do in your life. That’s why you will always get disappointed, when you need help from God but you keep running back to the flesh. After all the pleasures of this world, King Solomon later on discovered and wrote in Ecclesiastes 1:2 “Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher;“Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.”

Don’t invest in dead things yet God wants to breathe life into something new, which will not only affect this generation but several generations after you.

The dangerous thing about going outside God’s will to get what you want, you will have to stay outside His will to keep it. For example, if you are a single person and you are involved with a married person, you are already outside God’s will right!!!To kick out that toxic relationship and embrace God’s will in your life, you will have to disconnect with that person, repent and turn back to God, in order for Him to entrust you with your own spouse, which is His perfect will for you.
You don’t have to wait until things get messy, for you to turn your life to God neither do you have to keep on compromising, to have temporary pleasures!!You have the power of making the right decision today, by letting go what is hindering you from enjoying God’s best will for you.
I have penned down What do you see?? and  set apart which are good reads to connect with this particular post.
