My Eternal Best Friend

.
I know all of us have relationships spanned far and wide from home, work, church ,locally, internationally and even on our social networks. God created us to be relational; no one was created to be an island. Honestly speaking! you can’t expect to have a relationship with someone, whom you don’t communicate with or have fellowship with. It’s a two way traffic .In this journey of life, we have to attest that relationships can either make you or break you, depending on whom you relate with. As believers we all need to know, we have a friend who sticks closer than a Brother and that’s Jesus. People will fail you, hurt you, leave you but we have an eternal promise, of one who will never leave nor forsake you .Most believers know God as their Heavenly Father and Jesus as their personal savior but they hardly know the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. In John 16:7 nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. When Jesus ascended to heaven and sat at the right hand of our Heavenly Father, He promised us a helper, a counselor,a comforter and that’s the Holy Spirit. Trusts me on this!! it’s impossible to live and serve the Lord effectively without relying on the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is a person who dwells in us ,He has a mind,He has feelings and He has a will.Although all believers possess the Holy Spirit, who lives in them, not all believers allow the indwelling Spirit to affect their lives. We are commanded to “be filled with the Holy Spirit”.
The Holy Spirit lives inside a born-again Christian and guides the actions of those who desire His presence. The Holy Spirit empowers the believer to step outside his comfort zone, to do extraordinary acts of faith for God. Being filled with the Holy Spirit involves transforming our minds, to the mind of Christ as we perform our daily tasks. Walking in the Spirit , leads to a sense of peace and joy, as we partner with God in His glorious plans. Violating our conscience through acts of disobedience and sin empowers  the flesh and weakens the Spirit man, which will lead to a life that is no different than the life of a non-believer. In  Romans 15:13 now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Being filled with the Spirit means, to be filled with the immediate presence of God, to the extent that you are feeling what God Himself feels, desiring what God desires, doing what God wants, speaking by God’s power, praying and ministering in God’s strength, and living with the knowledge that God Himself gives.

So,what are the benefits of Holy Spirit In-filling:-

1.He helps us to walk in Spiritual counsel

John 14:16-17

And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever, the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

2.He guides us into all truth

John 16:13

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

1 Corinthians 2:9-10

But as it is written: Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,Nor have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

3.He teaches us how to wage spiritual warfare

Ephesians 6:10-19

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,

4.He helps us to understand God’s will when going through challenges and storms in life

Ephesians 1:17

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,

5.He discloses to Us the Heart Of God

John 16:14

He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.

John 14:26

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

6.He teaches us how to live holy

Romans 8:13

For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

7.He helps us to know our real worth as children of God

Romans 8:16

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.

Ephesians 3:16

That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man.

8.He teaches us how to pray

Romans 8:26

Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groaning’s which cannot be uttered.

Ephesians 6:18

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.

9.He is our advocate

1 John 2:1

My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

10.Through Him we have Much greater peace, joy and happiness, in our hearts

Romans 8:6

For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

You are never left alone when you are alone with God. The Holy Spirit is always dwelling in you and that’s why, He is My Eternal Best Friend.
